While Justine and Maurice were away at competitions, I’ve focused more on the stallions over the last two weeks. I’ve been lunging the young stallions, letting them free jump, loading them up, and showing them a different arena. I enjoy doing this every year; it’s always exciting to watch the youngsters.
This coming weekend, the ladies of the house, Justine and Erika, will be at the competition in Paderborn, while Maurice and I are off to the five-star tournament in Valkenswaard. As autumn approaches, the number of competitions will decrease, and then the stallions will be the sole focus.
This year, we have six stallions we’re preparing for licensing – slightly fewer than in previous years. I’ve sold some of the young stallions, and we’re keeping a few others and preparing them for sport.
We’ve always been rigorous in selecting our stallions and have only taken the very best; this year, we were even stricter. We stand firmly behind these six chosen stallions! Several of our own stallions’ offspring are among the competitors, and I’m absolutely thrilled with them: for example, there’s a stallion by Dia Corrado whom I consider exceptionally good, as well as top sons of Chacco’s Son II, Quabri de L’isle, and Chacco’s Light. If these stallions perform on the day they’ve shown here at home, I think the world is their oyster.
