ABOUT US
From childhood, René Tebbel grew up with horses on his parents’ farm in Emsbüren and
discovered his passion for these four-legged animals early on. Trained and mentored by his
father, Josef Tebbel , he won medals at European Championships during his youth and
successfully represented Germany in Nations Cups. At the age of just 21, he was nominated for the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm. He returned
from his World Championship debut with a team silver medal.
In 1995, René took the plunge into self-employment and took over his parents’ farm, after having worked for Paul Schockemöhle in Mühlen for two years. Over the years, René, together with his wife Erika and their two children Maurice and Justine, developed the farm into the renowned competition and sales stable it is today.
Justine and Maurice also followed in their father’s footsteps from an early age. Both qualified for championships and Nations Cups early on, both as ponies and as junior and young riders, returning home with numerous victories and medals from German and European Championships. Maurice continued to make a name for himself in the senior ranks, showcasing his own breeding program and earning a place on the German team. He won the Nations Cup at the CHIO Aachen twice in a row with Chacco’s Son and returned from his first World Championships with a team bronze medal. With Don Diarado, he was nominated for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, from which he achieved the best German result.
Alongside his own sporting career, and that of his two children and students, breeding and stallion management have long been a focus for René. In 2012, he realized his dream of owning his own stud farm on his family’s property, allowing him to optimally combine breeding and sport. Starting with seven stallions, including René’s successful stallion Light On, the Tebbel stud farm now houses 20 top sires. Even today, careful selection prioritizes quality over quantity. René’s philosophy is to offer only stallions for breeding that he and his son Maurice personally believe in. This means breeders are offered both internationally successful sport stallions and promising young licensing champions and up-and-coming talents.
In addition to the stallions, the training stable also houses numerous other sport horses. Approximately 90 percent of these are bred or raised on the premises. The facility features two spacious outdoor arenas, two indoor riding arenas, a horse walker, and various paddocks. The broodmares, foals, and yearlings are housed at the stud farm located two kilometers away, which includes spacious foaling boxes, open barns, paddocks, and pastures, thus providing the optimal foundation for their further development.
