The stallion licensing days in Oldenburg went exceptionally well for us, and the execution was absolutely professional. Given the current challenges and the absence of spectators, the Oldenburg team truly made the best of the situation. A huge thank you to the entire team on site: everyone knows their role, everyone works seamlessly together, and the whip handlers perform their duties with sensitivity, skill, and remarkable composure. It was truly first-class!
Of the four show jumping stallions presented, we are returning home with two premium stallions. This makes us very happy and also a little proud. Our premium stallions are sons of Dia Corrado and Quabri de L’Isle.
The Dia Corrado son x Stakkato Gold x Sao Paulo is incredibly handsome and exceptionally elastic. He presented himself accordingly and was described by breeding director Bernhard Thoben as “a stallion with excellent type, very relaxed, and always moving with fluidity.” His sire, Dia Corrado, was himself the main premium champion in 2018 and is by… Don Diarado, with whom Maurice was part of the bronze-winning team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, is a premium stallion, representing the third generation of our stud. He comes from the same dam line as Light Star, with whom Justine has achieved international success.
The second premium stallion, by Quabri de L’Isle x Carembar de Muze x Calvaro, is also exceptional: very handsome in type and possessing tremendous scope. The breeding director’s commentary included phrases like “international pedigree, very light-footed, excellent scope, and sufficient impulsion.”
Our dressage stallion, by De Niro Gold x Sir Donnerhall I x Tananarivo xx, also presented himself superbly and received a positive licensing verdict. This stunning chestnut has Donnerhall in his blood twice: on his sire’s side as his great-grandsire, and on his dam’s side as his great-great-grandsire, combined with a touch of Donnerhall blood through his dam, Johanna. The result is exactly what we hoped for: the energy of Donnerhall’s hindquarters, refined in type by his bloodlines.
Our Oldenburg verdict for 2020: Absolutely top-notch!
