I hadn’t really given the U25 squad much thought, but when Maurice sent me the message from the athletes’ meeting last Tuesday that I’d made it, I was absolutely thrilled! Heiner Engemann called me that evening to let me know. It’s a great feeling in my first year after the Young Riders category.
It’s not just a good feeling to be on the squad, though. I hope it will also get me noticed by the national coaches more quickly when it comes to starting places at major tournaments or Nations Cups.
Light Star, of course, played a major role in my being on the squad. We know each other inside and out, and what he achieved in Leipzig was simply fantastic. But I’m also looking forward to Camilla. I took over her last summer and I’m taking her with me to Oliva in February after her break from competitions. We still need a few more courses to really gel as a team, to get to know each other even better, but then I think things can go really well.
What are my plans for 2020? I’d like to participate in the U25 Jumping Cup again, the German Championships in Balve would be a huge goal, and it would be great if I could take part in a Nations Cup sometime 🙂
