The German Championships in Riesenbeck: Don Diarado in top form, Maurice in top form, an exciting format, and highly motivated competition.
Friday kicked off with a 1.50-meter fault-and-time jumping competition, followed by a 1.55-meter fault-and-time competition on Sunday. The top twelve from these two rounds advanced to the championship final. Maurice and Don Diarado were among them and secured the silver medal – sensational!
Maurice had a very clear goal for today’s St. Nicholas Day and German Championship final: “After my mistake at the beginning of the tournament, I thought I’d give it another try today. And it worked.” On Friday, Don Diarado jumped brilliantly: very motivated, fast, but – unfortunately – he slightly touched the white plank, causing it to fall. On Sunday, our eleven-year-old Diarado son surpassed himself: absolutely masterful in both rounds, faultless, ambitious, and yet with composure. With a total of 1.25 points across all three show jumping rounds, the pair earned the silver medal – simply fantastic! Only one rider achieved a perfect score across all rounds: Philipp Weishaupt and Asathir secured the gold medal.
Justine also had a great weekend. Riding the just eight-year-old Cote de Pablo, Justine competed in the final of the U25 Show Jumping Cup. The Chacco’s Son son handled the demanding course superbly and finished the final in a very respectable seventh place. Hats off to him! Cote de Pablo has once again demonstrated that he has what it takes to become a truly great rider. Justine also competed for the first time in the women’s division of the German Championships with Light Star, which was held in Riesenbeck as part of the international two-star tour. And the pair performed well: clear rounds in the first round and only one rail down in the second.
All in all, we are extremely pleased and proud of our family’s results!
A huge compliment is also due to the organizer of Riesenbeck International: The tournament was absolutely fantastic – especially in these difficult times.
