The World Championships for Young Show Jumping Horses can only be described in one word: phenomenal. Fantastic horses, excellent foals at the auction, and an incredible number of people there.
We were there for the second time with a stand from our stud farm, and the response was fantastic once again. The Belgian and Dutch breeders, in particular, were extremely interested in our stallions. From Wednesday to Sunday, the stand was always packed. The
competition went brilliantly as well; our stallions performed superbly. Maurice qualified for the final with both of his stallions. Chacco’s Light, a five-year-old by Chacco’s Son x Light On, jumped exceptionally well. The time limit in the final was quite tight, so Maurice had to push a bit harder. The stallion isn’t used to this yet, so he made a mistake, but it was a demonstration of excellent jumping.
With Copin’s Boy by Copin van de Broy x Levisto, Maurice also qualified for the final in the six-year-old category. Having both stallions in the final was already a remarkable achievement, given the enormous size and quality of the fields. Copin’s Boy jumped superbly and without faults in the final as well. However, he got a little overconfident at one distance, bucked slightly, and consequently took an extra stride. As a result, he finished a tenth of a second over the time limit and incurred a time fault. Overall: A top performance!
In the Sires of the World jumping competition, Justine and the Light On son, Lycon, also achieved a good placing. Only six out of 56 made it to the jump-off. Justine was riding brilliantly but unfortunately had a rail down and finished fourth. Still, a great result!
The foal auction featured 100 foals, all good foals with excellent dam lines. We and our partners secured bids on five foals: four colts by Dominator Z, Emerald, Heartbreaker, and Cabrio Z, and one filly by Cicero Z.
Five days at Zangersheide – a top-class event for us and a first-class stage to showcase ourselves and our stallions.
