Maurice and Justine were out and about: Maurice at the first CSI after the pandemic in Westergellersen, Luhmühlen, and Justine in Mühlen. In total, they competed with nine horses – and were very pleased with their results!
Justine: “I competed in my first two-star M-level show jumping class with Athletica, and it felt really good. I’ve only been riding her since February, and this was our third round together – I think we have great potential 🙂 Like about You is definitely a big prospect for me. I rode my first S-level show jumping class with him in Mühlen. He jumped it just like an M-level course. This horse is so much fun – he’s only seven, lovely to ride, super careful, and absolutely uncomplicated. Camilla and Light Star had a two-star S-level class on the schedule – both had a very long break from competitions due to Corona, but they were great, in really good form, and fully motivated. Overall, it was a fantastic day of competition in Mühlen, and next week things get exciting: On Monday and Tuesday, I’ll be in Warendorf for the selection tournament for the U25 Show Jumping Cup. As a squad rider, I’m already qualified for the final anyway, but I’m definitely using Warendorf as preparation. The final is in September in Balve. After Warendorf, Wietmarschen is coming with the young horses, and at the end of July I’ll be competing internationally for the first time again, in Peelbergen. The tournament calendar is getting full again :-)”
Maurice: “We had a kind of ‘family outing’ to Westergellersen: Papa Chacco’s Son I with his three sons, Cote de Pablo, Chacco’s Light, and Congstar, and Don Diarado was also able to come along. The tournament was superbly organized and the conditions were excellent, although we had to arrive on Tuesday for the vet check. It was a very long week – from Tuesday to Sunday. Chacco’s Son jumped very well, and with Don Diarado I rode the first international round after the Corona break still in training mode. In the Grand Prix, he had a fault at the exit of the triple combination. I think he was still lacking the competition stamina, which you simply can’t train at home. It was his first competition since Doha at the beginning of March. With the eight-year-old Cote de Pablo, I’ve only competed in the Youngster Tour so far.” He’s out on the road, he’s just done his first big tour and he did very well. And the two six-year-olds, Congstar and Chacco’s Light, also did well. That’s really great, of course: all three Chacco’s Son offspring have inherited his talent and absolute caution.”
