Qualifying for the Bundeschampionat with a score of 9.0 in Wietmarschen – that doesn’t happen every day. But I also had a really good feeling about Chacco’s Light by Chacco’s Son I. He has an incredible amount of energy. Because of that, he was sometimes still a bit boisterous and exuberant in the show jumping arena, but I’ve ridden him a few times now and he’s becoming more relaxed, more experienced, and more consistent. At home, I usually jump him twice a week, relaxed and calmly. But he’s six now, which also means we’re slowly working our way up to a bit more speed. Without overwhelming him, bit by bit, just as he offers it. And that already feels really good…

I also rode Dia Corrado (Don Diarado x Corrado II) in a competition for the very first time. He hasn’t had much time for competitions before because he’s in such high demand as a breeding stallion. We still need to get used to each other a bit, of course, but for the first time, it went very well. He even won a show jumping class for young horses (L level).
We also have several of Dia Corrado’s offspring at home, including three two-year-olds. They’re just like their father: gorgeous, long-legged, with lots of scope and a fantastic jumping style. I’m definitely very excited to see how they develop under saddle.

Justine and Light Star also had a very good round: with a confident clear round, they placed in the 1.45-meter Grand Prix. Light Star’s best feature is actually his consistency in showing excellent form. He’s been really strong over the last few weeks – in two senses: in his jumping style, but also in terms of muscle strength.
