Light Star is in incredibly good form – he hasn’t made a single mistake since the Corona break! We just spent two days in Warendorf at the selection tournament for the U25 Jumping Cup, and he once again delivered some fantastic clear rounds. On Tuesday, he competed in his first really challenging three-star S class since the Corona break, and he was just as relaxed in the course as he had been the day before in the one-star class. Camilla also felt great. I only rode her in the one-star class on Monday because she’s scheduled to compete in the Grand Prix in Wietmarschen next weekend.
What was really great about the two days in Warendorf was that, especially on Monday, there was plenty of time to have a proper chat with the national coaches. Heiner (Engemann) was extremely pleased with how both my horses performed. That’s obviously a fantastic endorsement.
The atmosphere is still strange, though – without exhibitors and spectators, there’s just no real tournament atmosphere. It felt strange, especially on the huge grounds in Warendorf; you hardly recognized the terrain. But the conditions were great again: plenty of space and excellent footing.
