Starting today, we’re in Vechta for the stallion pre-selection (OS). We have three stallions there: a son of Dia Corrado, one by Chacco’s Light, and one by Quabri de L’isle. It’s going to be exciting again – no matter how many times we’ve been through it. I’m confident in my ability to assess our stallions, but you never quite know how they’ll present themselves on that particular day, at that specific moment. Next week, we continue with the pre-selection in Münster-Handorf, Westphalia.
All the work involved with the stallions, the management, the preparation – it’s always incredibly demanding, and it hasn’t gotten any easier during these times of COVID. That makes this time of year, when the stallions are presented and evaluated, all the more important for us.
Last week in Riesenbeck – that was really good. Justine and Maurice had all their horses in top condition. They placed very well in all the advanced jumping classes! I wasn’t at the show in person this time, but I watched the rides on ClipMyHorse and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chacco’s Son and Don Diarado’s rounds were also absolutely superb. I haven’t had much time to look after Maurice and Justine’s tournament preparations over the past two or three weeks, but they obviously did a fantastic job! I’m quite proud of how independently and well they’re handling things.
